When I worked at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, I once came across a 400-page gun catalogue that
really caught my interest. The illustrations were beautiful line drawings, reminiscent of 17th and 18th
Century engravings. So I immediately found a pair of scissors and started clipping, took them home to
the studio, and began assembling images.
My work in general has reflected on identity and representation. In thinking about the issues of
masculinity, sexuality, and violence (whether real or imagined), and how they all seem to intertwine,
these images developed.
