These images are from a recent series of photographs. The only manipulation they underwent was in the printing
process. Printing black and white images on an inkjet printer can be problematic. The standard printer driver always
wants to use the cyan, magenta, or yellow inks in addition to the black. Very few printers have controls that allow printing
with black ink only. I have recently begun to use carbon inks in my printer with a third party printer driver that enables
black only printing. Out of approximately one hundred exposures, I have managed to select a half dozen or so that are
worthy of working with to obtain an acceptable print. You can see the results on this page. They are the original data
files, so they don’t have the subtle nuances of gradation that the paper prints have. But they do give you an idea of the
premise and the process as the series unfolds.
